A little less than 200 kilometers back2black east of Manhattan, Montauk, a charming little town whose history dates back to the 17th century. Strategically located at the very tip of Long Island, back2black for years was the home of the Army, Navy, Coast Guard. back2black Montauk is the home to the first lighthouse in New York State and the fourth oldest still active lighthouse in America.
Ride to Montauk Point Lighthouse can last from 2:30 hours until 5 or 6, depending on the time of year and time of day to save the trip. We went in late March, the day was cold (though wonderfully sunny!) And we had no problems with traffic.
A trip in the summer is still beautiful because it is easier to enjoy the spectacular views of the ocean without freezing to the bone. Not to mention that after the tour, you can cool off in one of the beautiful sandy beaches.
