We often consider these people as more virtuous, intelligent and reliable. Those who are different from us we attribute rather negative qualities. But what is these preferences and dislikes?
Previous research has suggested that small children prefer other people similar to themselves. And now therefore points to new research that babies at 9 and 14 months also like individuals who are unkind to those who are different themselves.

These results suggest that innate or very early developed mechanisms may underlie our perception of people who resemble us and those who do it, says Hamlin and colleagues.
The researchers experimented with 200 children in two age groups: A group of nine-month-old babies and one with toddlers at 14 months. All the children had to first choose what they liked best: whole grain crackers or green beans.
