The Martin skyscapes D17M harks back to the looks of the old style 17 guitars of the brand. He has a body made of solid wood with a Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides and a brown tortoise binding around the top. The D17M has a dreadnought body style that gives a lot of volume and is ideal for playing acoustic rock songs, but that lends itself equally well for quiet finger picking.
The neck is attached with a Dovetail neck joint and has a solid Morado fingerboard with 20 frets, 14 of which are freely accessible. And apart from a simple ring around the soundhole is quite modest appearance with a satin finish on the back and sides and a 17 style shaded gloss top, which gives a very subtle sunburst finish. The bracing of the top is solid Sitka spruce, and the A-frame type.
